Amerika: Bilderbuch eines Architekten

Reflecting the thematic framework of Photobook Week Aarhus 2023—‘Future Revisited’—this small exhibition pays homage to one of the most iconic photobooks of the twentieth century: Amerika: Bilderbuch eines Architekten. Published in 1926 by the German architect Erich Mendelsohn (1887–1953), who played a key role in revolutionizing architecture in Germany throughout the 1920s, the book is today widely considered a cornerstone of photobooks about built structures. It also counts as a very influential volume on modern American architecture.
